I do not agree with this statement because most of the things that we face while in college are not as great as one might think. I believe that the college years are not the best years of one’s life for the following reasons.
To begin with, when you first go to college it may seem like the greatest thing ever because of the new-found independency but being on your own is not necessarily a good thing. There are many challenges you have to face like learning to do things that your parents did for you like cooking, laundry, taxes, etc. Moreover, you have to start to be more mindful with your spending and how you manage your time.
Secondly, there is no one to enforce rules so if you are not diligent and organized you will have hard time studying and sequentially getting good grades. What is more, there will be no one to make you be on time for your classes or even go to them. Thus, you will just waste your time and money.
Furthermore, you will need to learn to be more responsible because there will not be anyone to fix your mistakes but yourself.
Last but not least, college is nothing like in the movies. It is way harder and you cannot slack all the time and expect to pass. The constant partying portrayed in the American productions is just a lie made up to make the movies seem more interesting. If you want to succeed you will need to put a lot of hard work.
To conclude, I believe that the college years are not the best years of a person’s life. With the independency that one gets there are many responsibilities, as well. Even though college is portrayed by movie productions as a lot of partying and no doing actual work, it is harder than one is imagining.
