I strongly agree with this statement. Pets are not just toys for us to play with or mistreat,
on the contrary, they are living organisms with needs and emotions just like us.
I concur with it for the following reasons.
Firstly, if you get a pet just to mistreat it and to not give it any
attention and love then why did you get it in the first place? In my opinion,
there is no point in getting a pet just because you want one but do not want
to bond with it and love it. Moreover, pets are just as loyal, if not even more
than any family member. There are many cases in which a dog or other kind of
pet saved a family member from danger risking its own life.
Secondly, all animals are just like humans and we should treat them
equally. The only thing that demarcates us from them is a common sense but that
does not especially make us better or superior. Every living creature should be
treated with love and most importantly respect. Pets and animals cannot talk or
defend themselves that is why this responsibility falls on us as well as to
treat them right.
And last but not least, most of the time pets become an important part
of our families without us even realizing it and even our parents who were
relentless to get us one rapidly grow to love them more than us. To my mind,
every family needs a pet to take care for. After all when your children grow up
and leave the family nest, the pets will stay with you and make you company.
To sum up, pets should be treated
like family members because they are extremely loyal just like the members of
the family and they will protect them from any danger with their lives, they
are like us and need to be treated with
respect and most importantly they hold a
key part in every family. I believe that pets are more than deserving to be
treated as family members.
