Graffiti can be an amazing alternative to make a town look more aesthetic. Personally, I love graffiti when it is meaningful. For instance, a drawing or a portrait on an old building of someone who has contributed to the country.
However, there is also a downside, as everyone can buy a spray can and doodle whatever they like and call it art. This way we could witness a lot of inappropriate and illegible scribbles. For example, a writing on the wall of names of football clubs and cynicims. A town covered in such graffiti does not send a nice message to its citizens, visitors, and tourists.
Another con is when something like that appears on the walls of historical buildings and statues, the authorities need to spend resources to remove and clean it up, or even renovate and restore the vandalised object or piece of art.
To sum up, graffiti can be a unique and cheaper way of transforming a town. Still, it depends on the kind of graffiti allowed to be put up on walls and various surfaces. Better yet, I think this form of aritstic expression should be made legal but it definitely has to be supervised.
